Q: What can I expect before, during, & after a photo session?

A: Before your session, we will discuss your desired result. Some people like their pictures to have a rustic feel, while other prefer a more urban look. We will decide on a location and any props needed to create your perfect look.

When you show up for a session you can expect a relaxed, yet professional experience. I take a few standard 'posed' shots, but primarily focus on capturing genuine personality.

After your session, you will receive your edited images on disk within 1-3 weeks. Your images will be high-resolution and ready for printing.

Then, it’s time to enjoy your photos with family & friends!

Q: What should I wear?

A: Below are some general guidelines...

1.If you are doing a family or couple session, wear colors and patterns that do not clash.
2.Wear clothing, makeup, accessories, etc. in which you are comfortable.
3.Dress to the desired effect of your photos-dressy, casual, etc.
4.Don’t forget to bring your most important accessory, your smile!

Q: How do I get quality prints?

A: Although prints are not included in your session price, I've included some some tips below on how to get quality prints that you will love. If you are interested in having select images printed and matted for you, please check out my Prints & Projects.
-First, sort through your pictures and choose the ones you would most like to have in hard copy. Some you may choose to use only digitally.
-Next, pick a printing location. If you will be printing multiple images, such as wedding announcements, I suggest somewhere that will give you deals on bulk. Lots of locations run specials... so check your area for deals & coupons.
-Now, choose the finish you would like for your prints. Glossy has a shiny, reflective surface that helps color to 'POP' but will easily pick up fingerprints and smudges. Matte has a non-reflective, softer surface that is ideal for black & white prints, and is less likely to show fingerprints. When it comes to the debate between glossy or matte, it really comes down to personal preference. Some printing stores offer a Luster Finish, which is a cross between glossy & matte... this paper-type happens to be my personal favorite for printing.
-Then, choose the print sizes you are most interested in. Standard image sizes include 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, or 11x14. Custom cropping is available at most locations if you have special requests for less-standard image sizes, such as square formating. Realize that when you print an image, it takes the full height of the picture and then crops the sides to fit accordingly. In some instances this can crop out wanted portions of the image. In solution to this problem, you can customize the crop size of the image, keeping it's original dimensions. For example, a photo with the dimensions of 4x6 could print as an 8x12 without losing any portion of the image. When printing, always be sure to set the crop yourself. Do not set an auto crop or you run the chance of cutting out desired portions of your image. If in doubt, ask a specialist at your printing location or contact me with any concerns.
